Retiring the 2012 i5 Mac mini

2012 i5 Mac mini

Earlier this month, MacRumors reported that a Mac mini processor upgrade could be in the works as early as this fall. Considering it has been over 3 1/2 years since we've seen a mini update, MacStadium engineers are anxiously awaiting a formal announcement from Apple.

With new hardware options on the horizon, we have decided to retire our base 2012 i5 Mac mini from our lineup. Existing customers can keep using them, but we'll steer new customers toward the i7 line. We've found that with only 4GB of RAM and 500GB storage this i5 mini is not as high-performing as it was back in 2012. We will be refreshing our list of Mac minis with upgraded versions once they become available.
